The Relationship of Perceiving Calling, Self-esteem and Occupational Identity with Life Satisfaction of Teachers

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigative mediating effect of self-esteem and occupational identity between perceiving calling and life-satisfaction of teachers. A sample of 346 teahcers from Seoul and Gyeongnam province was participated in the survey. For this study, scales such as Korean version of the Calling and Vocation Questionnaire, self-esteem scale, occupational ientities, and life-satisfaction were conducted. The results of this study were as following: First, there are significant correlations among perceiving calling, self-esteem, occupational indentiy and life-satisfaction. Secondly, perceiving calling, self-esteem and occupational identity have a significant influence on life-satisfaction and self-esteem and occupational ientity mediated the relationship between perceiving calling and life-satisfaction among elementary teachers. The implications of this study are discussed.
